About The Trek

The Chopta-Chandrashila Trek is a perfect blend of spirituality, adventure, and natural beauty. This short but incredibly rewarding trek takes you to Tungnath, the world's highest Shiva temple (part of the sacred Panch Kedar), and then to the majestic Chandrashila summit. Chopta, often called the "Mini Switzerland of India," serves as the base camp with its lush meadows and coniferous forests. The trek to Tungnath temple (3,680m) is a gentle climb through rhododendron and deodar forests, offering glimpses of snow-capped peaks throughout the journey. The final ascent to Chandrashila summit (4,000m) is steep but short, rewarding trekkers with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Himalayan giants including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba. The trek is especially magical during winter when the entire landscape is covered in pristine snow.
