Trekking Packing List for Himalayan Treks (Beginner Friendly)

Pack Light, Pack Right

Packing for a trek is an art. You need to carry enough to be comfortable but not so much that your bag becomes a burden. Here is the essential list.

The Essentials

  • Backpack (50-60L): With rain cover and good back support.
  • Trekking Shoes: High-ankle, waterproof, with good grip. Do not compromise on this.
  • Warm Layers: Thermals (top and bottom), fleece jacket, and a down feather jacket (for winter/high altitude).
  • Trek Pants: Quick-dry and comfortable. Avoid denim/jeans.

Accessories

  • Sunglasses: Essential to prevent snow blindness.
  • Sun Cap & Woolen Cap: Protect your head from sun and cold.
  • Gloves: Waterproof gloves for snow, fleece/wool for camp.
  • Socks: 3-4 pairs of cotton/sports socks, 1 pair of woolen socks for night.
  • Headlamp/Torch: For navigating campsites at night.

Toiletries & Meds

  • Sunscreen (SPF 50+) and Lip balm
  • Personal toiletry kit (small)
  • Personal medical kit (Band-aids, pain relief, motion sickness meds, personal medication)

Pro Tip

Layering is the key to staying warm. Instead of one thick jacket, wear multiple layers that you can add or remove as per the temperature. See you on the trails!
